چکیده

Conclusion. FFPE tissue analysis by multigene targeted PCR assays expands the opportunities for rapid identification of Mycobacterium species, allows differentiation of MTBC from NTM, and helps to detect co-infections. Using multigene targeted PCRs in combination with histopathology and IHC improve the accuracy of diagnosis, particularly in the presence of commensal and environmental pathogens. Disclosures. Performance of an interferon-gamma release assay to diagnose latent tuberculosis infection during pregnancy.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate an interferon (IFN)-gamma release assay in diagnosing latent tuberculosis infection in pregnant adolescents and women at risk for exposure to Mycobacterium tuberculosis. METHODS This was a prospective study of women and adolescents receiving health care at Bellevue Hospital Outpatient Clinics in New York City. Each patient was assessed for M tuberculosis risk factors, ha...

Usefulness of interferon-γ release assay for the diagnosis of latent tuberculosis infection in young children

PURPOSE Latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in young children may progress to severe active tuberculosis (TB) disease and serve as a reservoir for future transmission of TB disease. There are limited data on interferon-γ release assay (IGRA) performance in young children, which our research aims to address by investigating the usefulness of IGRA for the diagnosis of LTBI. METHODS We performe...

Thermostability of IFN-γ and IP-10 release assays for latent infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis: A TBnet study.

INTRODUCTION Interferon-γ (IFN-γ) inducible protein 10kD (IP-10) and IFN-γ release assays (IGRAs) are immunodiagnostic tests aiming to identify the presence of specific cellular immune responses, interpreted as markers for latent infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Incubation at higher temperatures could affect IFN-γ and IP-10 responsiveness in order to improve the performance of IP-10 r...

The efficacy of the interferon-γ release assay for diagnosing cervical tuberculous lymphadenitis: A prospective controlled study.

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS The whole-blood interferon (IFN)-γ release assay (IGRA) has been studied mainly for diagnosing latent tuberculosis (TB). We prospectively evaluated its diagnostic usefulness in patients with suspected cervical TB lymphadenitis. STUDY DESIGN Prospective cohort study. METHODS An IGRA was performed in subjects with suspected TB lymphadenitis. To evaluate the diagnostic pe...

Level of Interferon Gamma in the Blood of Tuberculosis Patients

Background: Interferon gamma (IFN-γ), a cytokine produced by a variety of cells is involved in the immune response against M. tuberculosis. It activates the production of other cytokines and molecules that kill mycobacterium. IFN-γ also has diagnostic role in identification of active and latent tuberculosis. Objective: To determine the level of IFN-γ in the blood of TB patients. Methods: Ninety...
